fixes

scripts to help set up KDE, other tweaks.

WINDBLOWS SLOP

If you're mounting the Windows partition read/write from Linux, Windows should have Fast Startup/hibernation disabled. A hibernated/dirty NTFS filesystem can prevent Linux from mounting it safely; the kernel ntfs3 driver can refuse a dirty volume.

Run Command Prompt as Administrator:

powercfg /h off

This disables hibernation and also disables Fast Startup, since Fast Startup uses the hibernation file.

To verify:

powercfg /a

You should see hibernation unavailable, and Fast Startup will no longer be available.

To re-enable both later:

powercfg /h on

INSTALL

Run these commands after booting into Archlinux ISO:

curl -O https://git.baltrust.eu.org/Baltrust/fixes/raw/branch/main/user_configuration.json
archinstall --config user_configuration.json

In archinstall:

Disk configuration

Partitioning > Use a best-effort default partition layout > Select drive > Main filesystem: btrfs > use BTRFS subvolumes?: Yes > Use compression or disable CoW?: Use compression > Btrfs snapshots > Snapper

Hostname

change to whatever you would like.

Authentication:

Root password > set up your root password

User account > Add a user > enter your username and password > Should "user" be a superuser (sudo)?: Yes > Confirm and exit

then

Install > Yes

What would you like to do next? > chroot into installation for post-installation configurations

run post-installation script:

./after.sh

it will ask for the username of the account you created. It will also ask for your root password a couple of times during the installation.

When it finishes exit out of chroot:

exit

and reboot:

reboot now

You have completed the installation.

POST INSTALL

discord

after it downloads all the files, you can close it and run vencord installer:

sh -c "$(curl -sS https://vencord.dev/install.sh)"

Setting up audio DAC

the script lets you change bit depth, sample rate and device name for your DAC.

curl -O https://git.baltrust.eu.org/Baltrust/fixes/raw/branch/main/audio.sh
chmod +x audio.sh
./audio.sh

Backups

Set up settings for backups in Btrfs Assistant.

Controller support

You do not strictly need game-devices-udev because many modern controllers work plug-and-play without custom rules, and many distributions include similar rules in packages like steam-devices.

However, installing game-devices-udev is highly recommended if you encounter specific issues, such as:

  • Your controller is not detected or recognized by Steam Input, Lutris, or other gaming applications.

  • You need user-grade permissions for specialized hardware (like certain Nintendo Switch controllers, flight sticks, or VR headsets) that default to root-only access.

For most standard Xbox or PlayStation controllers on modern Linux distributions, the system's default udev rules are usually sufficient.

yay -S game-devices-udev
